Stellar was born in South Korea and has lived in New York, New Haven, and Seoul.  She currently resides in Boston.   

Stellar is a graduate of Boston College and the CUNY Brooklyn College Creative Writing MFA Program where she studied with Amy Bloom, Susan Choi, Joshua Henkin, Ernesto Mestre-Reed, and Michael Cunningham.
